The most intriguing mystery of Agatha Christie has never been solved. Why did the creator of much-loved Poirot and Miss Marple disappear for eleven days? There have been many theories. Liz Grand, in her one woman show, solves this tantalising riddle.

The bar will be available for the evening and there will be a raffle.

BEADED JEWELLERY WORKSHOP

10am-3pm.

Ann from Tanzee Designs will introduce us to Kumihimo, an ancient
Japanese weaving technique.  We will learn how to use this technique to create
a keyring and beaded bracelet.  There is a charge of 8.50 on the day to cover cost of materials.

We return to the beauty and tranquility of Frenchay Church for a concert by The Bristol Mandolin and Guitar Ensemble.  They will provide an eclectic mix of musical style from baroque to rock, perhaps Vivaldi, Ennio Morricone, Villa Logos or even Jimi Hendrix!

TALKING TO THE ANIMALS

to give a fascinating talk on animal care and what goes on behind the scenes.

HIGHCLERE CASTLE

11am-4pm

Highclere Castle is the stunning backdrop of the fictional Downtown Abbey. Visits are self-guided through the state rooms, so you may go at your own pace. Room guides are available.  The Egyptian Exhibition at 7 is an optional extra.  Three tea-rooms are available throughout the day.
Tickets are limited as only one coach is accepted at Highclere at any one time.

FARMING TODAY

Come to this lovely farm, where the most advanced technology is used. 
Our hosts will be Johnny and Jo Alvis, producers of the renowned cheese.  There will be a
demonstration, tour and talk.  Strong shoes or wellies should be worn.

GOLF CROQUET SKILLS DEVELOPMENT DAY

This is an opportunity for all abilities of player to work on developing/ improving their skills in golf croquet.  All levels of player welcome.  This will be a fun event with a cream tea to celebrate the successes of the afternoon.  All equipment supplied, however suitable flat-soled footwear must be worn.

Our morning speaker will be Steve Loader from the fantastic Mission to Seafarers based in Portbury Docks, Bristol.  For the afternoon  we are fortunate to have Amanda Owen joining us to share her life story as a hill farmer in the North of England. 

There will be a raffle.

BASKETRY AND WILLOW WORKSHOP

St George's Church Hall, Easton-in-Gordano, BS20 0PA

10am-3.30pm.

Join Tanya Bartlett for an introduction to willow weaving using traditional
weaving techniques of waling and pairing.  We will be making a Bird Feeder and a Catalan Tension Tray.  This workshop is suitable for those new to willow weaving or those wishing to refresh their skills.  Coffee/Tea available.  There will be a charge of 12 on the day to cover materials.

THE DELIGHTS OF DRESDEN, THE SAXONY ALPS & MEISEN

We will meet at Bristol Airport for our flight to Berlin where we will be met by our guide and transferred to the 4* Dorint Hotel in Dresden.
A set three course dinner is included at the hotel for the first evening, with the remaining 3 nights being on a bed & breakfast basis.

Our stay will include a walking tour of Dresden, visits to the Royal Palace, Pillnitz Castle & Gardens, a paddle steamer cruise along the River Elbe from Konigstein to Pirna, Zwinger Palace, a steam train excursion from Radebeul to Moritzburg, Moritzburg Castle (pictured) and a guided tour of the Meisen Porcelain Museum.

NB:  Given the historic nature of the places visited, a certain degree of walking will be involved, so this holiday may not be suitable for those with mobility problems
